It’s cold… we all know that here in the Seaway Valley. There’s still snow on the ground and the temperatures are going to make sure the snow stays a little longer. I want to know spring is coming, and not just by temps creeping to the upper 30’s and lower 40’s (2-6 C). I want a true sign of spring and I finally got it this past week. In 2 far away places that are a bit warmer, my favorite sign spring is on the way has started… BASEBALL!!

Whether your team is in the Arizona Cactus League or the Florida Grapefruit League, Spring Training is a very fun time for fans and players alike. It’s a time where teams are figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Who will be a part of the roster come opening day, who will be in AAA or lower, or who will have to try another team or next year. Most of all it’s a time where the kid inside every player comes out. That kid who started with tee-ball or little league is either on a major league team or trying out, and that must be an amazing feeling.

Spring Training has always meant that beautiful season is close. Spring is on the way, along with the smell of freshly cut grass, the crack of the bat, and, hopefully, the sound of spectators cheering on their team. Baseball has finally returned, and with it, a sense of hope, renewal, and a positive future on the horizon.
